The genetic diagnostic laboratory at Centre for DNA Fingerprinting & Diagnostics offers comprehensive clinical diagnosis of genetic diseases (cytogenetic, biochemical and molecular). The centre offers pre-pregnancy counseling and pregnancy screening programs for the detection of high-risk pregnancies for chromosomal aberrations. The centre also offers prenatal diagnosis for detection of chromosomal abnormalities, single gene disorders and inborn errors of metabolism. In addition to providing genetic diagnostic services, the laboratory carries out research work on molecular pathophysiology and mapping of genetic disorders.
A Medical Genetics Unit has been established at Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad as a result of collaboration between CDFD and NIMS, which will provide high value services in diagnosis and counseling for children and families with genetic disorders. The Unit will provide services in fields of Clinical Genetics, Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Biochemical Genetics and Fetal medicine.
Our OPD is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The unit is situated in Ground floor of Millenium Block, Room No 10, Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad.
